O’Buzzy Bars

05cBarsbfLOIn reality, these are just corn flake and peanut butter bars, spread in a glass baking pan and then topped with melted chocolate.

The corn flake bars are called just that.

Top ’em with melted chocolate chips, and you get something called an ‘O’Henry Bar’.

Top ’em with really nice, dark chocolate, and, well, then you’ve buzzyfood’s them.

All that cleared up, on to da bars…

01cBoilbfLOINGREDIENTS
•1 cup sugar
•1 cup light corn syrup
•1-1/4 cup peanut butter
•6 cups corn flakes
•1 (10 oz) bag bittersweet chocolate
•1 tbsp butter

03aAddCornFlakesbfLOCombine the sugar and the corn syrup in a large pot and heat to boiling over medium-high heat, stirring quite often.

Remove from the heat and immediately stir in the peanut butter until it has metled into the sugar and corn syrup mixture.

Stir in the cornflakes until they are evenly coated and mixed throughout, then (for bite-sized pieces) turn out by tablespoonfuls onto wax paper or – spread the mixture in a 13 by 9 glass baking pan, patting it down to even out the cookie bars.

04aAddChocolatebfLOPlace the chocolate and the butter in a large, ‘wave-safe bowl and cook on high for one minute.

Remove from thew ‘wave and stir, then ‘wave again for another minute and stir again.

Repeat until the chocolate is nicely melted and smooth, then immediately spread over the corn flake bars in the glass pan.

If you want to go extra fancy, you could surely sprinkle the chocolate with a bit of chopped peanut or mebbe even coconut; but folk seem to like these at their simple best.
