Here it is – the culmination of three days of posting and planning! And you know what?
It’s not too, too bad!
I’ve always kind of liked the idea of this pizza – especially how it tastes almost exactly like that two all-beef patties… sammich from that place down (every) street. Rich has never really felt the love – opining that, if he should WANT a ‘two all-beef patty…’ sammich, he could easily drive down any one of several streets nearby to have one.
I say pshaw! No one expects you to be able to make this sucker at home – so why not confound your friends and amaze your enemies?
At the very worst, this whole process will only take a day or so – and most of THAT to let the flavors in the special sauce meld.
Next, we make the dough – very nice, I highly recommend this recipe – but if you can’t be bothered, a Boboli will work.
OK, the sauce is special and the dough is done – on to the grand finale:
INGREDIENTS
•1/2 lb ground beef
•1 onion, chopped
•1 cup special sauce – You COULD use Thousand Island dressing – but you would be WRONG – I’m jus’ sayin’…
•1 pre-baked pizza crust (homemade or store-bought)
•1 cup sliced or shredded American cheese
•2 cups shredded lettuce
•Chopped dill pickle
•Tomato, diced
Cook the ground beef and chopped onion, stirring often, in a large skillet over medium high heat until well browned.
Season with salt and pepper and drain well.
Spread special sauce on the pizza crust, top with a layer of ground beef and onion. Sprinkle with shredded cheese.
Bake for about ten minutes in the top third of the oven, until cheese is melted. Allow to cool for 5 minutes, then slice into wedges and top with lettuce, tomato, and pickles.
More, please…
