Teriyaki Sauce

TeriyakiVertbfLOI had everything needed to make Thai pork stew; some nice pork chops, assorted fresh peppers, garlic…

except…

Hmmmm. No teriyaki sauce – in the back o’ the fridge OR the pantry! I HATE it when that happens!

Well, all praise da Google – and Majerle’s Sports Grill – for posting this simple, tasty solution:

INGREDIENTS
•1/2 cup soy sauce
•1/4 cup water
•2 tbsp sweet rice wine
•1 tbsp, plus 2 tsp brown sugar
•1/4 cup sugar
•1-1/2 tsp minced garlic
•1-1/2 tsp minced ginger

ThaiPorkStewMarchPlatebfLOCombine everything in a saucepan and heat, stirring, until the sugar is dissolved. Bring to a boil for a minute or so and set aside to cool.

Majerle’s goes on to turn the sauce into a glaze by stirring in 1/2 tbsp cornstarch dissolved in 1 tbsp water and simmering over medium-high heat until thickened; but just the sauce worked for me.

Oh, and the stew?

TASTY!
