I will admit, it was a moment of weakness…
We were strolling down the food aisles at Target (as one does), when I came across an endcap loaded down with Christmas Crunch cereal. Another endcap nearby held bags of white chocolate chips.
A plan came together in my head.
As I would be the first to tell you, I do not do cereal things well; but, I reasoned to myself, “this is so simple, how could I screw it up?”
As it happens, I couldn’t. Three ingredients, a couple of bowls, and some waxed paper later, I had a not too, too shabby holiday themed sweet munchie, and all due to this shinybrite box o’ sugar masquerading as a breakfast food.
Well, ’tis the season, and all that…
INGREDIENTS
•6 cups Christmas Crunch cereal
•2 cups pretzel sticks
•22 oz white chocolate chips (2 bags)
Stir the cereal together with the pretzel sticks in a large mixing bowl and set aside.
Empty the white chocolate chips into a ‘wave safe bowl and hit 30 seconds on high.
Remove the bowl, give the chips a stir, then pop back into the ‘wave for another 30 seconds.
Remove, stir, and repeat until the chips are melted and smooth.
Pour the melted chips over the cereal and pretzels in the mixing bowl and stir until evenly coated. Transfer the cereal mixture by spoon to waxed paper and set aside to cool – once the chocolate has cooled and set completely, your candy clusters with be well and truly stuck together.
Stash in a tightly lidded container and dispense for a bit of holiday cheer and/or a mad sugar rush.
I should feel guilty about this, but I don’t.
