Parfait! Tante Marie’s French Dressing

FrenchDressingbfLOI always have a jar of this most excellent salad dressing in the fridge.

For one thing, it’s very nice on a salad; but oh! the things you can do with this simple jar of salad dressing goodness…

You can use it to make special sauce, which goes very nicely on a big cheeseburger ‘za! (or just slather it on your burgers), or mebbe combine a bit with cooked Kraft dinner to make a nicely zippy pasta salad. OR you can use it to make taco salad.

01bAddKetchupbfLOTaco salad details are comin’ Monday, but for today, let’s make us some French dressing!

INGREDIENTS
•1/4 cup sugar
•1/4 tsp salt
•1/4 tsp paprika
•1/4 tsp celery salt
•1/4 tsp Colman’s dry mustard
02bAddOilbfLO•1/4 tsp orange pepper seasoning
•1/4 sweet onion
•1/3 cup ketchup (I like my ‘sup!)
•1/4 cup red wine vinegar
•1/2 cup canola oil

Add the dry ingredients to a blender jar, then top with the onion, ketchup, and red wine vinegar.

04CatalinaCarrotsbfLOPulse to combine everything and finely chop the onion then, with the blender running, slowly add the oil through the hole in the lid and continue running the blender until the dressing has emulsified.

That’s all there is to it!

The dressing will taste fine right away, but it really is better if you stash it in the fridge for a couple of hours to let the flavors blend, so, make a batch today to have on hand for that taco salad on Monday and, while you’re waiting, you can make these tasty French carrots to munch on!
